The Karachi Port handled 97,767 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,435 tonnes of import cargo and 31,332 tonnes of export cargo including 7,015 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 66,435 tonnes comprised of 51,379 tonnes of containerised cargo and 15,056 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 31,332 tonnes comprised of 24,799 tonnes of containerised cargo; 533 tonnes of bulk cargo and 6,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,015 containers comprising of 3,928 containers import and 3,087 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,098 of 20's and 1,323 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 91 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 445 of 20's and 605 of 40's loaded containers while 320 of 20's and 556 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Irenes Reliance, Merbabu and Shandong Hai Sheng carrying containers, oil tanker and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. MOL Gateway, APL Le Havre, CMA CGM Butterfly, MR Pegasus, Nordic Bulker-2 and World Era-3 carrying containers, oil tanker, rice and clinker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 207,652 tonnes comprising 163,154 tonnes of import cargo and 44,498 tonnes of export cargo including 4,888 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 163,154 tonnes includes 1,493 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,200 tonnes of palm oil; 60,404 tonnes of coal; 16,233 tonnes of chemical; 30,450 tonnes of LNG and 48,374 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 44,498 tonnes includes 44,498 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,888 containers comprising of 2,546 containers import and 2,342 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely CV APL Savannah carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CV Maersk Chicago, MV Hou Yoshi Park and MV Moon Beam carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, chemical, palm kernel, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as fifteen vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, MV Hong Yuan, MV Bottiglieri Franco, MV Asia Emerald-IV, MV Tegea, MV Port Macau, MV Valvovine, MV Ikan Pulass, MV SD Dalian, MT Marangas Efasoss, MT BW Tiger, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Spica, MT Ginga Jaguar and MT Gao Cheng-2 respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV GSL Tianjin, CV Maersk Bentonville, MV Asia Emerald-IV, MV SD Dalian and MT Marangas Efasoss carrying containers, coal, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Thursday There was one ship namely CV Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
